Currently located at GameMasters at 2550
South Nova Road in South Daytona, Florida, the Volusia County Chess Club
was founded in 2019 by Anthony A Cipollina as a continuation of the
Daytona Beach Chess Club meant to bring together and encompass all of
Volusia County chess players. We meet every Tuesday from 6:00 Pm to
10:00 Pm. During this time, we host a club rated tournament which is
streamed live to Facebook. The rankings are updated weekly and then
posted on our members page. Volusia County Chess Club is an official
Affiliate of both The Unites States Chess Federation and The Florida
Chess Association, and officially ranked USCF
tournaments are hosted monthly.
Anthony A. Cipollina (aka Tony C) has been playing chess since the age
of four. Local to the area, he graduated in 1998 from Spruce Creek High
School and got his BS in CS at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. A
member of the Daytona Beach Chess Club since 2006, he quickly rose
through the ranks to become a Category 1 Expert, currently with a peak USCF rating
of 2034. Tony is an official Local Tournament Director, organizer, and
coach. His playing record includes multiple Daytona Beach Chess Club
Championships, multiple Palatka quad championships, multiple match
victories (still undefeated in match play), an Orlando Class
Championship, and most recently led a a team to victory which he
captained and coached, while tying for first in a field of over 100
players at the 2020 United States Amateur Team South.
