About Us

Currently located at GameMasters at 2550 South Nova Road in South Daytona, Florida, the Volusia County Chess Club was founded in 2019 by Anthony A Cipollina as a continuation of the Daytona Beach Chess Club meant to bring together and encompass all of Volusia County chess players. We meet every Tuesday from 6:00 Pm to 10:00 Pm. During this time, we host a club rated tournament which is streamed live to Facebook. The rankings are updated weekly and then posted on our members page. Volusia County Chess Club is an official United States Chess Federation Affiliate and official ranked USCF tournaments were hosted monthly prior to the covid outbreak. It is our intention to host these again as more people become vaccinated and the outbreak dies down.

Anthony A. Cipollina (aka Tony C) has been playing chess since the age of four. Local to the area he graduated in 1998 from Spruce Creek High School and got his BS in CS at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Tony is an official Local Tournament Director, organizer, and coach.
